Professional Background
I obtained my doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Maryland in 1988, and have been licensed as a psychologist since 1990. Earlier in my career I worked for ten years with child, adolescent, and adult clients at the Woodburn Center for Community Mental Health in Annandale, Virginia. During this tenure, I conducted individual therapy, psychological evaluations, parenting assessments, and parenting classes. I also provided clinical supervision to psychology interns and residents. Additional previous clinical experiences include work at the D.C. Institute of Mental Hygiene and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
I have worked full-time in an independent psychology practice since 1998. In addition to conducting individual psychotherapy all throughout my career, I have had extensive experience in conducting psychological evaluations and psychoeducational assessments. However, since March 2020 I have focused almost exclusively on my psychotherapy practice, including telehealth services for many clients.
